Feminist Fairy Tales

15 Jul

Macabre, twisted, darkly sensual feminist fairy tales. Grown-up women, toss aside those copies of Twilight, and embrace Angela Carter. Be brave.

Here’s what Angela Carter has to say about it:

My intention was not to do ‘versions’ or, as the American edition of the book said, horribly, ‘adult’ fairy tales, but to extract the latent content from the traditional stories.

Hmmmmm! Yes! This extraction of creep was what made the stories so compelling.

Anyone know of any other feministy fairy tales? These were published in 1979, so there have to be some more since then!
